The Park Ranger Institute is held at the campus of the North Carolina Justice Academy in Salemburg, NC.

Dormitory Information
Students are housed at the Academy's dormitories. Towels, washcloths, bed linen, soap, alarm clocks and paper supplies are provided. You should bring toilet articles. Do not bring electrical cooking appliances, or pets. A drug store is located in Salemburg.

Parking
The student parking areas on the campus are marked with signs. Please use these designated areas for parking. Do not park on the grass.

Cafeteria
The cafeteria food service is provided by a private contractor. All meals are complete, self-serve, "all you can eat" buffet.

Smoking Policy
The Academy has established a limited smoke-free environment which is defined as the following: "The majority of the interior portions of Academy buildings are off-limits to smoking. There is no smoking in classrooms or administrative areas, but smoking is allowed in designated dormitory rooms. Designated smoking areas are located around campus at both interior and exterior locations to accommodate smokers." If you have any questions, please ask your instructor.

Student Activities
The Academy has a student center which has pool tables, video games, a television, and vending machines. Please observe all rules posted in these facilities.

Telephone Calls
For all non-emergency and emergency calls, please use the Academy telephone number 910-525-4151. After 5 pm, this number will ring in the campus security office. If the security officer is making rounds, an answering machine will record the message. Emergency messages will be delivered when the officer returns.

Firearms
Students shall not carry firearms anywhere on the Academy campus except to and from the firing range for training and to the classroom when required. Students shall not keep firearms in the dormitories.
